ANTANANARIVO – The U.S. Embassy in Madagascar is proud to honor the legacy of Madagascar’s fallen gendarmes and police officers through donations of school supplies, oil, rice, and sugar to orphanages in Arivonimamo and Ambatolampy.  Representatives from the Embassy’s Regional Security Office and the Marine Security Guard Detachment revived a cherished tradition through these donations, funded by contributions from across the Embassy, during their visits to the gendarmerie and national polices orphanages November 29 and December 1.

This act of friendship supports children, serves as a tribute to gendarmes and police officers who have died in the line of duty, and strengthens ties among the American people, the U.S. Embassy, and Malagasy law enforcement professionals. Embassy officials are pleased to work with Malagasy gendarmes and strengthen this important relationship each day.
