The safety of U.S. citizens traveling and residing abroad is the highest priority of the Department of State. Overseas Citizens Services (OCS) in the U.S. Department of State, and our embassies and consulates overseas, are charged with providing this consular protection and service.

Important information – New Appointment System

The US Embassy Antananarivo is moving to an on line appointment system for all American Citizen’s Services. Beginning September 19th, all regular services such as new and renewed passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, notarials, etc. will be provided through the new appointment system. The new appointment system is designed to provide faster and more efficient service to our American public. With the new appointment system, we will be able to give you individualized attention without the wait.

To make an appointment for regular American Citizens Services, please follow the instructions on our website. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings by on line appointment only.

Please be aware that the following items are prohibited from entry into the U.S. Embassy: cell phone, thumb drive or any other electronic devices. In addition, while storage facilities are available for small electronic items such as cell phones and thumb drives, all laptops and tablet devices cannot be stored at the entrance of the U.S. Embassy.
