ANTANANARIVO – Today was a very special day for the English Access Microscholarship Program students and their parents! Twenty Antananarivo public school students celebrated their completion of the two-year English Access after-school program in a ceremony at the U.S. Embassy. Program graduates include students from Lycée Jean Joseph Rabearivelo, Lycée Andohalo, Lycée Moderne Ampefiloha, Lycée Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona Andranonahoatra Itaosy, and Lycée Nanisana.
U.S. Ambassador to Madagascar and Comoros Claire A. Pierangelo presided over the ceremony. The English Access program, funded by the U.S. State Department and administered by the Thriving Youth Madagascar Association, helps students improve their English, leadership, and professional skills. Since its inception in 2004, more than 150,000 students in 85 countries have participated in the English Access Program. Almost 500 Malagasy students, ages 13-20, have benefitting from this program since 2011.
