Peace Corps Volunteers are back in Madagascar!
On August 2, the first two Peace Corps Volunteers returned to Madagascar after all Volunteers were evacuated from 60 host countries worldwide in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. These two Volunteers will teach English at local high schools and middle schools. Later this month, a group of 30 Volunteers will also arrive in Madagascar. Some will teach English while others will work on household permagardening to combat malnutrition.
In February, a group of health volunteers will arrive. Peace Corps Madagascar plans to ramp up to its pre-pandemic number of 150 Volunteers within about two years.
