Women History Month “Empowered to Empower. We are the heroines of our own story”
To mark the Women History Month and the International Women’s Day, during a weeklong program, the U.S. Embassy will give the floor to women from every walk of life to share their experiences and inspire younger generations to step up and seize their opportunities. We share the principle that “when women do better, countries do better.”
The untapped potential of women remains a lost opportunity for economic growth and development the world can still afford. The inclusion of women is essential to ensure gains reach all members of society.
As such, the Embassy has chosen to celebrate Malagasy women’s achievements and envision a future of opportunities, instead of victimizing women. The objective is not for the women speakers to ignore their life challenges, but rather to highlight how they have decided to overcome them and what the progresses they have made are.
The various activities will serve as sharing of best practices to inspire young girls to see opportunities behind every challenge of life and also to provide them with the resources they need to succeed as equal and active participants in the global economy.
U.S. Embassy Virtual program series
U.S. Embassy Madagascar – Public Affairs Section (PAS) hosts several Virtual Series that address various important Mission goals. E-Talk is a Malagasy-language lecture series presented by alumni of USG exchange programs. Our weekly English-language MeetUS series highlights native English speakers presenting on a myriad of topics about life in America – from culinary to sports diplomacy, history to travel. Both programs are shared live via the Zoom platform with our American Corners in Tolagnaro, Mahajanga, and Comoros and with other partners like the Youth Civic Center and the National School of Administration.
