ONE (1) Janitor

The US Peace Corps is seeking a full-time Janitor. The position is based at the Peace Corps Training Center (PCTC) in Mantasoa, Madagascar. Working as part of a team, the Janitor is primarily responsible ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the Peace Corps Training Center and community-based training (CBT) facilities. This work includes cleaning and organizing common areas, training rooms, the kitchen, dormitories, bedrooms and bathrooms. The Janitor is directly supervised by the Training Center Operations Manager (TCOM). Given the location of the work, preference will be given to applicants who reside in Mantasoa.

The duties of the Janitor include, but are not limited to:

 Clean floors, bathrooms, walls, windows and ceilings in all common areas, trainers’ house, and the Learning Centers
 Sweep, dust and perform general clean up in all dormitories, habitations, office and classroom
 Coordinate daily empty of all garbage’s cans, washing the garbage cans and do appropriate sorting of garbage for recycling purpose.
 Clean all chandeliers and lighting fixtures
 Wash (and iron as necessary) sheets, pillow cases, towels, kitchen towels and napkins, blankets for staff, trainees and Volunteers.
 Prepare materials to be sent to community-based training (CBT) and clean them after the training event
 Wax and clean trainees rooms in host family residences at the conclusion of a training event
 Order cleaning supplies, maintain their inventory and perform with the Procurement and Logistics Coordinator the supplies inventory
 Coordinate with the TCOM to ensure that buildings are free of pest infestations
 Assist kitchen crew at CBT site
 Report to the maintenance coordinator and/or to the TCOM of any electrical, plumbing or other malfunctions or any damage identified at the dormitories, the office and the buildings at the center.


Minimum Requirements

 Completion of elementary school (CEPE)
 At least 2 years of working experience as a Janitor/Cleaner
 Ability to communicate in French or English
 Good physical condition (as it is mostly manual labor/physical work)

Desired Qualifications

 Knowledge of English language
 Basic knowledge of using Computer (Word, Excel)
