Deputy Chief of Mission Stephanie Arnold

Stephanie Arnold is the Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Mission to the Republic of Madagascar and the Union of the Comoros.  A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Stephanie joined the Department of State in 2005 after nearly a decade in the private sector in Chicago.  She arrived in Antananarivo in September 2023.

DCM Arnold most recently served as Management Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.  Other previous overseas assignments include management and consular positions in Canada, Benin, Uganda, and Ireland.  In Washington, she previously served as desk officer for Mozambique and Eswatini in the Office of Southern African Affairs and as supervisory assignments officer for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs and the Bureau of International Organization Affairs.

Prior to her Foreign Service career, she was assistant vice president in the global derivative products division of JPMorgan Chase, a marketing manager at Arthur Andersen LLP, and a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana.  She has a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Grinnell College, an MBA in finance and economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a master’s degree in national resource strategy from the Eisenhower School at National Defense University.  She and her husband Komla Penty are the parents of four children.
