ANTANANARIVO – The Armed Forces of Madagascar, in partnership with the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), is hosting representatives from 40 African nations and several regional and international organizations for the Africa Endeavor 2016 Leader Symposium in Antananarivo August 22 to 26. The President of Madagascar Hery Rajaonarimampianina and the U.S. Africa Deputy to the Commander for Military Operations Vice Admiral Michael Franken officially opened the symposium at the Hotel Carlton Antananarivo.
Africa Endeavor is an annual communications and information-sharing event sponsored by AFRICOM to help develop multinational communications interoperability for African Union and United Nations mandated peace keeping and disaster response missions in Africa.
The primary goal of the communications seminar is to enable military leaders to review and analyze current abilities of their forces to communicate during multinational operations and to develop standardized training and procedures to improve future support.
During the seminar, participants will review current challenges with communications and information sharing, discuss ways to implement standard communications practices in our training and peace keeping operations and participate in a technology exposition.
Since 2006, more than 2,000 communications specialists from 40 countries, six African regional organizations and six international partner nations have participated in past Africa Endeavor events.
